SHV ALKMAAR B.V.'S PUBLIC OFFER FOR ERIKS RECEIVES CLEARANCE FROM THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION

Utrecht and Alkmaar, 3 August 2009

Following the press release dated 24 June 2009, by which the recommended public offer in cash for all issued and outstanding ordinary shares in ERIKS N.V. ("ERIKS") by SHV Alkmaar B.V. (the "Offeror"), an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of SHV Holdings N.V. ("SHV"), is launched, the Offeror and ERIKS jointly announce that the European Commission has granted clearance on 31 July 2009 for the proposed acquisition of ERIKS by the Offeror without imposing any conditions.

Acceptance Period
The Acceptance Period has not yet expired and ends on 5 August 2009 at 17:30 hours CET unless extended in accordance with Article 15, paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 of the Takeover Decree (the "Acceptance Closing Date"). Until the Acceptance Closing Date Shareholders may tender their Shares under the Offer in the manner specified in the Offer Memorandum.
