What you’ll do  

Nutreco is seeking a strategic and business-oriented Head of Sustainability Solutions to lead the governance, development, lifecycle management and continuous improvement of sustainability-related digital solutions across our global organization. 

 

As owner of the global Sustainability Solutions portfolio, you will serve as the central point of coordination between (but not limited to) Sustainability, Business Lines, Business Units, Functions, and Digital and Technology teams, ensuring sustainability capabilities and solutions are aligned with business priorities and Nutreco's sustainability strategy. You will drive coherence, transparency, and collaboration across a growing landscape of sustainability initiatives, connecting existing and emerging solutions while avoiding duplication of efforts and maximizing value creation. 

 

Acting as the business owner with full accountability and a clear mandate for sustainability solutions, you will translate business needs into clear priorities and roadmaps for Digital teams, enabling capabilities such as ingredient sustainability, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), sustainability reporting, traceability, and future AI-enabled sustainability analytics.  

 

Through strong stakeholder engagement and governance, you will ensure solutions are scalable, fit for purpose, and deliver measurable business impact across Nutreco's global operations. 

 

Main Responsibilities and accountabilities 

 

Own and govern Nutreco's global sustainability solutions portfolio, ensuring sustainability capabilities, digital solutions, and AI-enabled innovations are aligned with business priorities and the company's sustainability strategy.  

 

Partnering closely with Sustainability, Digital, Data, Procurement, Finance, Marketing, and operational stakeholders, this role drives the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of sustainability solutions that deliver measurable business value, regulatory readiness, and long-term strategic impact.  

 

The role is also accountable for prioritizing and managing the end-to-end sustainability solutions backlog, ensuring initiatives are aligned with business priorities and resources are focused on the highest-value opportunities. In parallel, it establishes effective governance, promotes adoption and continuous improvement, and ensures global priorities are executed in a coordinated, scalable, and value-driven manner. 

  

Who we’re looking for  

Success in this role requires strong stakeholder management, portfolio leadership, and the ability to connect sustainability objectives with practical digital solutions that support business performance worldwide. 

 

You’ll also need:   

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sustainability, Business, Engineering, Data, Digital, or a related field. 

  • Approximately 10+ years of experience in sustainability, digital transformation, product ownership, program management, or related leadership roles. 

  • Strong understanding of sustainability topics including LCA, sustainability reporting, traceability, sustainable sourcing, and sustainability data management. 

  • Proven experience working across business, sustainability, and digital functions in a global environment. 

  • Experience leading complex cross-functional programs, portfolios, or digital product initiatives. 

  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and change leadership skills. 

  • Experience in agriculture, animal nutrition, food, FMCG, ingredients, or related industries is preferred. 

  • Familiarity with agile ways of working and digital product development. 

  • Experience managing product backlogs, prioritization processes, and demand funnels. 

  • Understanding of AI-enabled solutions and their application within business processes.  

  • Product Owner certification (e.g., Scrum Product Owner) or equivalent agile experience is preferred.
